Demetrious is a BJJ Brown Belt and celebrates grappling and Jiu-Jitsu as a whole. He even has his children training BJJ and competiting and he has future ambitions to be his kids Jiu-Jitsu coach when he retires from MMA.
His grappling achievements include eight submission victories over notable opponents such as Ray Borg, Wilson Reis, and Kyoji Horiguchi. The reigning ONE flyweight world champion’s recent defense against Adriano Moraes has left fans excited about his future pursuits, particularly in grappling competitions.
Demetrious Johnson‘s Challenges Ahead
The upcoming IBJJF Masters World Championships will take place from August 31 to September 2 at the prestigious Las Vegas Convention Center. Johnson will represent AMC Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the brown belt Masters 2 featherweight category, weighing in at 154lbs.
The competition is set to be intense. Johnson faces a challenging 34-man bracket filled with decorated competitors and jiu-jitsu legends. All participants are over 30 years old, representing a seasoned group of athletes vying for gold in their respective age, weight, and belt rank divisions.
