Two formidable female MMA fighters are set to clash in the ONE Fight Night 22 event, featuring Noelle “Lil’ Monkey” Grandjean and Chihiro Sawada.
Scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, this bout promises an intense showdown between Grandjean, the fearless French-Thailand mixed martial artist, and Sawada, the skilled 26-year-old Japanese fighter. We caught up with Noelle Grandjean at Phuket Grappling Academy in Phuket, Thailand, where she was getting some No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu rounds in preparation for her coming bout. Grandjean, also known as “Lil’ Monkey,” has martial arts running in her veins. Raised by a coach and former professional fighter, she honed her skills in judo and kickboxing from a young age. Her talent and dedication led her to win several local judo tournaments and national championships in the Netherlands and Thailand.
Transitioning to MMA, she trained extensively in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, enhancing her already potent arsenal of skills. Her professional MMA debut in October 2021 marked the beginning of a successful career, with victories via armbar, decision, and knockout. Now, she aims to conquer the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Title, starting with her debut against Lea Bivins at ONE on Prime Video 3 on Friday, October 21.
On the other side of the ring stands Chihiro Sawada, a formidable fighter with a height of 4’11” from Japan. With victories via unanimous decision and submission, Sawada has demonstrated her prowess in the cage. Trained by AACC, she secured notable wins against opponents like Jihin Radzuan and Sanaz Fayazmanesh in events like ONE Fight Night 20 and ONE Friday Fights 5.
