So Yul Kim vs. Noelle “Lil’ Monkey” Grandjean Analysis

We were excited for this match as Grandjean is a Judo Double Black Belt and Kim is the 6th ranked active Asia Southeast women (pound for pound). The women warriors came out with guns blazing in this riveting match-up. Grandjean took the reins in the first round, showing her dominant side. Using her strength to her advantage, she threw powerful strikes that kept Kim quiet. However, Kim was just calculating her opponents every move and planning for her submission in round two.

In the second round, Kim came to life and found Grandjean’s weaknesses. Rebounding from a quieter first round, she displayed exemplary precision and consistency in delivering punches. The turnaround was dramatic, and Grandjean soon found herself under a barrage of attacks. Grandjean remained in Kim’s direct line of sight, barely moving around and repeatedly receiving blows down the middle line. As the clock ticked on, Kim shifted the momentum in her favor, taking Grandjean to the ground. The culmination of Kim’s resurgence was a brilliantly executed triangle choke submission, handing her a well-deserved victory.

“Uzbek Tiger” Zakirov vs. Dave “Kintas” Bangguigui Analysis:

This was a bout of grit and tenacity. From the very start, Zakirov’s Russian wrestling background was apparent. His technique was nearly impeccable, making it evident why he has such a strong reputation in the circuit. With little effort, he took shots at Bangguigui, bringing him to the mat and dominating the play. However, Bangguigui’s resilience was commendable. Even when faced with Zakirov’s overwhelming force, he refused to be bogged down. Despite the consistent beating from Zakirov, Bangguigui did display calmness in defending himself on the ground initially. We saw some commendable jiu-jitsu defense techniques that kept Bangguigui from being too compromised in the beginning.

However, Zakirov was just relentless and displayed his dominance throughout the whole match. One of the most impressive moments was in the third round when Zakirov executed a flawless Wrestling Suplex. Zakirov easily threw Bangguigui in yet another takedown of the night to continue the onslaught.

To end the fight, Zakirov nearly had Bangguigui in the BJJ ‘especial frango’ position – or as they say in Portuguese, ‘spread chicken’. It was a compromising situation, to say the least, as Zakirov unleashed a storm of hammer fists on either side of Bangguigui’s temple. The referee intervened, ending the mayhem and handing Zakirov a victory by stoppage. Despite the outcome, one can’t help but applaud Bangguigui’s never-say-die spirit.
