CountFilms interviewed Roman Kryklia in Bangkok, Thailand for ONE Fight Night 17. He’s the reigning ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing World Champion and the ONE Heavyweight Kickboxing Grand Prix Champion. Now he’s aiming to be a two-sport title holder as he faces off in the inaugural ONE Heavyweight Muay Thai World Championship Title at ONE Fight Night 17.
Roman Kryklia vs. Alex Roberts
Roman Kryklia is eager to be facing off in a ONE fight this weekend at ONE Fight Night 17. He explained that “I’m looking forward to show you my skills.” Kryklia noted that he feels prepared for this fight even though he’s switching from kickboxing to Muay Thai. He explained that “my coach always gives me Muay Thai skills, so it doesn’t change my training sessions much.”
Overall, Kryklia strategy is to stick to his normal fighting style but add some Muay Thai techniques and “try to use my knees, maybe my elbows.” He believes that his biggest advantage over Alex is his “experience, speed, and height.”

Roman explained that similar to other fighters at ONE it’d be a dream come true to win another belt at ONE Championship as “it’s not only my dream but all the fighters here and all over the world.” For all martial artists, “it’s a goal for everyone to be a champion, not only in kickboxing but in Muay Thai.”
When we asked Roman why he’s the best fighter he simply stated “I’m the best fighter because I’m here.” While the statement was bold, it was also hard to argue as the reigning kickboxing World Champion is now fighting for another title.
