Umar made his debut in the Russian-based promotion Fight Nights in December 2016, where he showcased a remarkable Thai boxing technique that quickly became the most distinctive feature of his style. His first opponent was met with a crushing knee and ended up in a Jiu-Jitsu guillotine, an event that highlighted Umar’s developing skills.
