Felipe Pena, a purple belt at the time, played a crucial role in Arges’ development because their training partnership flourished. Eventually, Arges joined Romulo Barral’s academy, where he found another influential coach. Fast forward to this FPI4 match against Dan Manasoiu, where the great display of technical prowess and strategic brilliance of both grapplers was showcased. The match was truly an exciting one. Big Dan, as he’s called, towered over Gabriel but both had near dangerous submission encounters. Arges displaying his favorite positions and techniques, such as X Guard and Single Leg X-Guard Sweeps. Ultimately, the match ended with Dan Manasoiu, a member of BJJ team New Wave Jiu-Jitsu, defeating Gabriel Arges via a heel hook submission. Gabriel Arges had an impressive display of skill and control throughout the fight but in the end was no match for Dan Manasoiu’s Leg Locking skill.
